MOTION PICTURE PROMOTION: Internationales Trickfilm-Festival Stuttgart '12

In der Innenstadt Stuttgarts sind wieder die Trickfiguren los. Vom 8. bis 13. Mai 2012 findet hier das mittlerweile 19. Internationale Trickfilm-Festival statt. Kurzfilm-Wettbewerbe, Langfilme, Workshops, Vorträge, drinnen und draußen - es wird wieder ein volles Programm geboten.

Ab heute geht das nicht gering renommierte Internationale Trickfilm-Festival in Stuttgart in die 19. Runde. Rund 1.000 Filme in den verschiedensten Längen sowie Kategorien werden präsentiert. Empfehlenswert sind nicht zuletzt die Wettbewerbskategorien - allen voran im Internationalen Wettbewerb - in denen man auf eine über die Abende verteilte, vielfältige Reihe von knapp gefassten Animationsfilme von höchster technischer Qualität und Kreativität gespannt sein. Darunter werden gleich zwei für den berühmten Academy Award nominierte Filme zu sehen sein: A Morning Stroll und Wild Life. 

Wen darüber hinaus die Neugierde oder auch der aktive Tatendrang packt, der wird mit einem umfassenden Rahmenprogramm voller Ausstellungen, Vorträge, Gespräche, Präsentationen oder Workshops und und und versorgt. Als Empfehlung sollen an dieser Stelle die ganztägigen Workshops zum Thema Pixilation unter der Leitung der ungarischen Video-Künstlerin Agnes Hay und der deutschen Performance-Künstlerin Kristin Gerwien für Erwachsene wie auch Jugendliche in der Staatsgalerie Stuttgart genannt werden.


Vollkommene Ungezwungenheit wird beim vor wenigen Jahren eingeführten Open Air Kino des Festivals herrschen. Bei freiem Eintritt und je nach Wetter hoffentlich entspannter Park-Stimmung werden täglich auf dem Stuttgarter Schlossplatz zunächst Kurzfilme - auch eine Auswahl aus den Wettbewerben - und am Abend Langfilm-Animationen gezeigt werden.

And again, Stuttgart got conquered by animation figures. For the 19th time, here the International Festival of Animated Film will take place from May 8th until 13th 2012. From short animation competitions to long animation screening, from workshops to lectures, both indoors and outdoors - we are facing a full week ahead again.

Today, the quite renowned International Festival of Animated Film in Stuttgart opens for the 19th time. In different categories, a good 1.000 both short and long films will be presented. Not least of all, the competitions - first of all the International Competition - are to be recommended. In this category one can expect a diverse number of short animated films of technically high quality and strong creativity shown throughout the evenings. Amongst them are two films nominated for the famous Academy Award: A Morning Stroll and Wild Life.


Those who, beyond that, own such a curiosity or even thirst for action will be provided with a supporting programme full of exhibitions, lectures, talks, presentations or workshops and even more. Let me recommend you to enroll in the workshops on pixilation with the Hungarian video artist Agnes Hay and the German performance artist Kristin Gerwien for both grown-ups and young persons at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.

Totally casualness will be prevalent in the festival's Open Air Cinema, which had been introduced only a few years ago. Due to its schedule it is planned that in the afternoons short film animation including a few of the Competitions' participants and in the evening a long animation will be shown. All this will take place for free and depending on the weather hopefully will come with relaxed park feeling.
